you guys are awesome, I dont know what I'd do without termpro
I guess what I'm getting at is I want songs that you would use for example... on a demo board to show a customer some niiiiiiiiiiiiiice speakers. Give you a full range of mids, tweets, etc.
Hotel California is my favorite still, I really like a lot of these songs, keep them coming!!!

Whether you like him or not, Michael Jackson has some great SQ. A couple of songs I noticed were Man in the Mirror(kick drum whoa) and Black and/or White.

a CD we always used in my install bay was Madonna - The Immaculate Collection. That has a wide variety of ranges to test out your system. i will always use it to test out a system... unless its for a basshead. In that case, drop the treble, increase the bass, bump the gains.. crank the bass cd.... ok ok, just kidding about this part. this is a for sure way to use your warranty..

The absolute best SQ song in the universe is by this African guy named Hugh Masekela. The song title is Stimela. Gotta watch out because there are like 3 or 4 versions of it. 2 are AWESOME! The other 2 suck major nutsackz.

Ramble on, what is and should never be. by led-zeppelin. full spectrum response and excellent stereo imaging (late 60's left-right psychadelic) but remember led-zeppelin was the fore-fathers of heavy metal.

Some of the tracks of ATB's 'Moving Melodies' have really well seperated percussion and stuff... it probably has the best sound imaging out of all my music!

Stereophile's Test CD Set. Boston Accoustics used to have a great test CD set - not sure if it's still around, but it covered everything from SPL to SQ.

I like all of those, but I'm looking for songs that you can really hear the separation of everything on a good system.
I'm trying to put together a compilation for when I get my system up and running
Just wondering why you think those three music genres are inferior in any way for this thread. I listen to a lot of rap, and I admit that a lot of the recordings are comprised of samples and that they can sound bland. But as with everything else in this world, there ARE exceptions.
Outkast - Aquemini Outkast - Extraterrestrial Dungeon Family - Excalibur G Dep - Danger Zone G Dep - One Way Goodie Mob - Still Standing The Coup - Heven Tonite Bone Thugs n Harmony - The Righteous Ones

I can't believe my SQ woman forgot some of the better CD's and songs we use in her car.
Oh well here are a few to add to the list.
Yello CD-Flag, Tracks All but, The Race is a very very well done track.
Blue Man Group, every CD they have made.
Stomp - Very well done.
James Newton Howard And Friends - This is a Sheffield Labs CD.
Another good label for High Quality production CD's is Telarc. A good selection of classical music here.
There are numerous soundtracks that would work very very well for demo purposes. One that comes to mind is the Harry Potter Movie Soundtrack (the first movie).
Above all SQ cd's aren't hard to find it's a matter of what dynamics you wish to show off in your demo. This will help make the choice of music easier.
Enjoy!!

I bumped it
I honestly think this is one of those threads that need to be easily accessable. After seeing others create the same thread over and over again, I think it's best just to keep one big ole thread.. just like the one, "The best song to bump to."
