For those who haven't upgraded to a DVD drive, do yourself a favor and do so!!! I just burnt 2 cds in 10 mins (about 5 mins/cd)!!! I recorded on Real JukeBox to 96 Kbds MP3 format. The playback quality is pretty sweet (I was running other programs, but this beast is much beefier than my last puppy).
I was looking in the upper right hand corner while burning and was hitting 7 - 9x burn rates!!! Slayer @ 9xs the speed - DANG
Catch y'all later, now that I have test making music, I need to type up my test . Poor students, catching me after a weekend of football, beer, & tequilla (hope spell check works ).

are you talking about RIPPING or BURNING? i know for a fact that DVD RAM drives are extrememly expensive, and in fact, i think only DVD RAM drives can read burned dvd's.
if you meant ripping, what speed dvd drive do you have, my 32x cd-r rips at about 16x

Darhwoops, thanks Dante, Ripping. That south-of-the-border "water" was clouding my thought process.
Although I'm only running Adaptec software, I'm able to burn cds and copy cds at 8x. Not sure if other software and CD-RW hardware would allow me to burn at a higher rate.
Current DVD-ROM drive = 10x. Current CD-RW drive = 8x4x24. Not great, but for what I paid, I'm not complaining one bit .

Anybody but Adaptec whould allow you to burn at higher rates lol Try nero or WinonCD (my personal favorite), but man, a Slayer Cd in 5 minutes...hehe...kick arse
