why does it seem that outkast records a distorted bass section on a few of their songs.....it was on their last album too. twista did the same thing. I'm at a loss to why they would do that though???

I haven't really noticed it except for on B.O.B I love that song but the bass sucks. Other than that I haven't noticed any other songs like it. I really love the bass beat on #10.

Most hip-hop producers use noise or distortion to add a gritty rough feel to their tracks, especially drum tracks.
It's actually an art form for some. They tweak samples, use old technology processors and even synthesize noise to get that effect.
You can really notice this when you listen to home-grown rappers that DON'T do this on their tracks. They sound too clean and dry.
This is a pretty old concept. Back in the day, rock guitarist would build potentiometers to adjust the voltages on their guitar effects, so they could drop the input voltage down into a sweet spot where the effect was noisier than it would run at normal voltage.
