Hi everybody, I'm going crazy with rules, because it seems that every day there's something new!!! Last week our Italian 3X judge told me that you cannot put any kind of damper on the roof if there was no stock damper on it! So if you have a cheap car like a Panda, where there's usually no damper on the roof, you cannot use anything to damp the metal. And he also told me that if you want to change the upholstery of the ceiling using an equivalent replacement, it's only allowable when the roof it's not been damped, because the replacement of the ceiling is considered as hardening the roof... I think he's just confused, but I need to be sure about that, because there's a 3X event next weekend and we need to compete with absolutely legal cars!!! Please help me!!!

After Team MBS in Street Max has a 3-4 mm think wood plate as an "equivalent replacement" in the roof (in front of the b-pillar) and it's told it's legal, I'm sure you can damp your car with normal mats legally, too.
Üüüühh!!! Matze

So 3-4mm wood is considered equivalent replacement for a cloth or foam headliner?

First off yes my head liner is made of a softich bord, it is not as hard as MDF but it looks all most like it. Second of all have any of you ever seen a 92 Panda Selectra Specal ED with automatic trams, and lether in side? I have only seen my Panda like this all the other are normal one`s that I have seen so far.

Team MBS headliner is a equalent replacement to the original one.
To the guy from Italy: You can damp the cars roof with 2 layers of 2 mm or 1 layer 4 mm dampingmat, even if there is nothing there original.

It is legal to sound damp up to 4 mm the roof or the floor or the door. As for equivalent replacments...Why pick on Team MBS,I am sure that his is the first one to comply with the rules and for sure his car has been double and triple checked by most of the European Judges which are also judges at the world finals...so by having doubt about Team MBS car its like not respecting Multipoint event Judges.. I can not understand why it always comes to illegal cars or judges not doing their job good....???

About Team MBS, it looks like it was just a simple misunderstanding as his replacement was first said to be something like 4mm thick wood. Which it obviously can't be and is not (like plywood) if I understood right. It's somekind of a "soft board" like he said, which is similar to what there has been... and these old Fiats can be pretty weird, I think some even comes without any headliner Posts: 575 | From: Finland | Registered: Feb 2001
