Are you allowed to run power cable through the cabin of the vehicle in street class without hiding it behind factory trim panels?

I compete all over Australia in Street A in hire cars no minimise cost and inconveinience.

A point was made on a local Australian forum about it and it was "classified" as being a modification to the cabin.

Can anyone give me a final ruling on this???

At European Springbreak in Sinsheim, the international judges commitee wanted me to hide all wires unter the carpet.

They told me "the car stereo must be INSTALLED" and not only put into..

Üüüühh!!!

Single point event, cant see it being a problem.

Multi point event, it should really be hidden but I really cant see it making a diference in any way.

Custom auto sound installations may affect the safety and/or integrity of your vehicle. Although some competitors may elect to have their sound system installed by others, it is ultimately the competitor’s responsibility to validate that his or her installation is safe. Particular care should be taken with regards to electrical wiring. All power wires should be fused directly at the battery to minimize the risk of a fire hazard. Sound components such as speakers, amplifiers, enclosures, etc. should be fastened to the vehicle in such as way as to prevent them from causing injury or damage in the event of an accident. Vehicles that have been structurally modified to accommodate the sound system or vehicles that exceed the maximum gross weight limits as detailed in the vehicle’s operating manual should never be driven on public streets or highways.

Just like sound components must be fasten to prevent injury in the event of an accident, so should the same consideration be taken for the wiring. If there was an accident, would the passenger's feet be prevented from becomming entangled in the electrical wiring? hmmm....

The cables are cable tied neatly to the side of the vehicle.

I understand the safety issues involved, I just thought someone was being a little pedantic.

Thanx for the replys.

Any other judges out there that might want to offer an opinion?

I thinik someone was being very picky. It is your install and does not violate any written rule.

In what Sid said above, the main thing that stands out is it keeps saying "should". If it said it "has to" then it would be a rule. With it saying what "should" be done, it is left up to the competitor. An example would be, how many big SPL vehicle are truly fused at each battery?
