Say your in one of Street MAX classes, and run a podium. Would it possible to power the podium off its own 12V battery source, provided that source was isolated from the main vehicle power ?
IE. the only connection between the HU & car is the RCAs & remote. The HU power comes from its own little battery.

I think that this was answered some time ago in dB Drag section. And the answer was NO.

Rule 6-4

quote:
All of the components in the sound system (with the exception of an external podium or source unit) must be located within the external OEM “skin” of the vehicle. (This includes, but is not limited to alternators, batteries, amplifiers, enclosures, and speakers.)

You need few extra wires from car for +/- and remote (if you need remote).

No batteries are allowed in the podium. Also, you would have terrible ground loops if you did this anyway.
