I know lots of competitors that have modified amps and / or specialized speakers. Since these are not allowed in the extreme class, how can compeitors go about letting the officiating staff check them out?
Also, how do you define commercially available. For example, a manufacturer I deal with recently came out with a spl idealized sub. This is a modified regular series woofer. A short time (after CES) ago they added this to their offerings. From what I understand these are somewhat limited production drivers. They are meant to be used by competitors for competition use, and will be difficult for "average joe" to come by.
What I'm getting at is where is the line drawn? I can't think of a esy way to do it. I see small manufacturers adding the sub to their price list, selling it to a few select competitors, not even allowing most dealers to get a hold of it, and then removing it a month later after the big show. This is only to be done again 3 months later for the next big show when they have changed one or two small things on the woofer.
Just thinking out loud....
