we had our door panels thrown away by a few undeserving workers at a local car audio shop...now we do all the work ourselves...however, the thing still doesn't have any door panels. (which actually hurt spl) until we find some, is it ok to compete in the not-modified (can't remember name of it) class?

Your replacement door panels need to be similar to the OEM panels from a structural perspective. Cosmetics are irrelevant.
