i am building a modifide car and i would like to know some things like what is the port in the dash can i do that i know it is not connected to the box but it is open on the bottom of the dash right? if not can you tell me what is it there for and can i still do it the other thing is if i build the floor up and the center consle how does the string test work? do i have to have a gap inbtween the wall and my center consle ? and the final thing is how far can i build the dash out? that you all for your help

I have seen the "ports" in the dash that simply go from the top to the bottom of the dash. They are irrelevant in dB Drag Racing because we cover the dash with a piece of Dynamat when we judge the vehicle.

There are not a lot of limits on building a custom dash as long as you adhere to the other rules in the rule book. For example, the "2 adult rule" and the "80% visibility" rule. Both of these will definately affect how much you can build up the dash.

You do not need to cut a notch in your console for the String Test. However, your console cannot enclose an "air volume" that is used for drivers behind the imaginary plane.
