Hey guys,

Ive been waiting long enough and really want to get my 4 pairs of components finally in. But I have a dillema...how do I keep this legal in SS nw?

I really wanted to finish my fiberglass dash but Im really hesitant as I will get some serious flak at comps for it...so I remembered meades A-pillars having some components in them, is that legal to compete with a pair of 5.25" components in the A-pillars? It would almost have to be fiberglass though...so im not too sure if I can do that.

So Ive got the factory door locations upfront filled, thats one pair of the 6.5" components...then possibly the A-pillars would take care of one pair of 5.25" comps...but I still have another pair of 5.25"s and a pair of 6.5"s left and really want to get them involved in this..

And I know I could just kickpanel 'um...but not a huge fan of that...any ideas on where to put them all?

The things I see being questionable would be if the pods interfere with the mic placement.

If you move the a-pillers in with a build out then you move the position of the mic on the dash due to the placement 12" from the piller.

This could be taken in a number of ways but I can't think of any that wouldn't open a can of worms.

Yea, almost every option I have will bring me some hate in the lanes...But ive been thinking if the best idea would be to just finsih my dash...get another stock one from the junkyard and make it so that I can easily remove it for comps and swap it for the stock one...

ive got tweeters moulded into my a-pillars. Judges at finals just adjusted the mic position slightly.

According to the rules it is 100% legal to do do A pillar builds as long as its a custom install to accommodate speakers. This rule does not specify the location that is allowed to be built out, or beefed up only that it can be done in the "installation location" of the speakers. So if that is on your A pillar and you build them to accommodate a component set then it is legal no questions asked.

Rules state: 3-8
# It is permissible to strengthen door panels at the location where speakers are installed in the doors.
# Door pods are also permissible, as are custom fiberglass "build-outs" or other modifications that are made in order to accommodate speakers in the installation location.
