So, all those nasty rumours was true. They really dropped huge amount of old classes away. Maybe i am only one who thinks that combining is equal than dropping smallest class away but still i don't understand what idea is behind this

there are a lot of older extreme competitors that didn't have a bandpass, that had quit before you started. they're hoping to get some back i guess.

What i dont get is WTF is freestyle? Looks like Extreme but with out a finals invite....POINTLESS!!! So they compressed Extreme to make room for freestyle? Seems very unhealthy for those who compete in Extreme for finals, that they have to be combined into 2 classes making things more difficult for then so that we can have a class for people who compete in Extreme who dont plan to go to finals...If there is even anyone in that class? Honestly if you compete in Extreme you do so for the purpose of attending finals, so why the freestyle class?

I won't even be able to get an invite for finals cause I am so far down on the LOUD list that it isn't even worth me competing... so much for keeping extreme competitors huh? Let me see as I look it up... yup I am number 18 or 19 so I would not even be invited to finals... kinda sucks!

I am still in the process of building a new extreme vehicle and since I am fairly new in this division I guess I will be the first to volunteer to go down to extreme vs extreme unlimited due to the fact that I would have no chance being my first year in any extreme class. Who else may go to the non bandpass?

I just think thats somewhat pointless, the old design had such a glass ceiling on it. A legit 172 to maybe 173 at the dash is going to be about it.
Basically giving people an out to have an "easier" class to bail to.
Bandpass is no more expensive than old school, you just have to break out your pad and pen, and get to testing. It has zero to do with sponsorships, money, etc. takes the same equipment to do that than it does old school style. I've been running the same 4 woofers and amps for over 4 years (changed the brand on subs, but thats it)
I do however see where the numbers can scare away new competitors, because the #'s we hit can be pretty intimidating to a new competitor.
I don't agree with all being in the same class, I think it would have been better limited at small shows and split at huge ones. At this point in my career it doesn't really change whether I compete or not. I have the mentality these days of wanting to be the loudest there, regardless of class, so that doesn't change things. I am however still riding the fence on whether to continue or not, but thats due to business priorities and not rule changes.

I'm with you... My loading wall is only 12" wide so I cant mount 12s 15s or 18s to it. I will have to tear out the permanent center console and the loading wall which I just put in, in order to go non bandpass. I will likely have no choice but to do this to have any chance at finals on top of being the newest extreme guy on the circuit this year

You are wrong. Freestyle is for NEW competitors that whant to "test" their system... Its like a run what you have class with no rules... This class is a no world finals class, so you can not say that we have removed Extreme classes to add this.. IF all Extreme classes had been full at each event, or even full at world finals, it had been different. Now, Extreme has the lowest turn out, therefor its only 2 classes for 2008. AND it has been proven that 1 woofer can play the same number as 6....

What a perfect example
Then we need maybe one class, one woofer class
So true, how many German Ext 1 car is louder than ext 2 cars ? Maybe none ?? So like you said it is not good example if second loudest Ext car is played with 1 woofer.
But anyway i want to say "Thank you for new classes". Now i can really concentrate to LIFE (= no new ext car for me)

It is not whether 1 sub plays the same number as 6, it is giving everyone in extreme a chance to go to finals. Right now for 2007 we had 19 competitors in Extreme. This means if it is the same or more for 2008, atleast 3 people won't be invited to finals regardless of how much they spend, rebuild or how many shows they attend. That is the problem, and yes I am speaking for myself here. The whole point is to go to finals. Hell in 2006 I went to finals and had to compete in 5+ against a van that had Kool aid man on the side of it that did a 146 db. but the point was that he got to be there and run. Now you are saying that all 19 will compete against each other.
Also, not everyone's system can run 1 sub against 6 subs. Just because one person can do it doesn't mean that everyone can. so you can't use that as a basis for class changes.

Exactly right!!! And the fact that alan can do such a large # with 1 sub doesnt mean he isnt even louder with 2 or more subs....I believe Alan had stated huge gains going to 2 subs mid last season. I think his #s reflect the hard work and knowledge he does and has.
Maybe a crazy ass idea and a little to late but what about Extreme classes divided by the competitors experience and years in dB Drag competition? This way the guys who have been at it for years compete against other veterans and it pushes them to get louder, and rookie say under 3 years in Extreme in another class? Not sure how this would work but think its a better solution then the current rules.

"Test"? What test? You mean if a new commer with a 1500 watt amp and two subs goes to an event, competes in Freestyle and wins he then retires in the same day?
Or, does the "test mean henow has to go buy a $1000 battery, $2000-$3000 amp, $800 sub, and 10 strands of cable so he can maybe get with in 10-15db of everyone else in Street A? that test?
