I am a Street Competitior and I want to see this sport grow. This is sure to get some people pissed off at me for even bringing it up but here goes.

Why not just make it so that Street classes have no world finals? Everyone that competes in a DB Drag event has a profile on Termpro anyways so each person can track their own progress and measure themselves against others in the same class.

Not having a finals for street would take out all of the veterans and move them into higher class unless they are just around to beat up on the new guys. If a new person wants to compete against veterans then they can move up to the street max and other classes and do that.

As far as manufacturers go when is the last time you saw an add for any company that said anything to the effect of "The loudest street cars on the planet use ______________ Woofers!!!!"? Therefore manufacturer support of street classes is a non-factor.

Street classes would then become affordable for new comers again and they would still feel as if they were accomplishing something by competing at an event.

Or a second thought that just came to mind Double the point requirement for the Street Classes and make people compete all year to get to finals. I'm sure this would thin the field out a little having to do double the work to get to finals.

Or this could totaly kill Street.

What about all the "vets" that compete in Street, what if they dont want to move up to go to WF, they would still be there or they would just quit.

I see your point, however if we are constantly feeding off of the new growth in the sport eventually there will be nothing to feed off of.

Yes there will probably be some people that quit because they don't want to move up to go to finals but these are probably the same people that push the rules and then complain because someone "cheated harder" or "spent more money than they did to buy their finals victory" in what was supposed to be an entry level stepping stone group of classes.

The quicker we realise Street is no longer entry level the quicker we can think of other ways to get competitors interested.

Your absolutly right, now how can we bring in new people without adding more classes? Or how do we keep the veterans out of the entry level classes?

Bass Race is not the answer it is proven time and again at shows that a veteran bass racer knows exactly when to start their track and where to set the volume to get the perfect score and new guys won't know any of that.

I would like some of the turn key promoters to give us their ideas and findings from their areas that may help the rest of the sport grow instead of just their territories.

But generally speaking vets in BassRace are in higher classes.

So less of a threat.

If we had less big shows, big competitors would have to attend one of the few there was to make finals. Then we could run MS for locals/noobs and fill brackets for Street with Vets.

The old veterans are in the higher classes yes, but the "new" veterans, guys that have been doing this for the last two to three years, are building multiple sub and amp systems and jumping into any class they want. An example of this would be a Van with a wall of 4 18's the amps and batteries to do mid to high 150's competing in the 120 to 129.9 class, he knows all he has to do is tie twice against the kid with a pair of 10's in his trunk and then the cars get shut down and he wins on his batteries storage capacity alone.

I guess what we are running into is a lack of conscience in some competitors and we need rules that act as a conscience, because everyone wants to win and as of right now we don't have an "I Win" class.

So for those people that winning is everything and they will "kill off" the growth of thier own hobby just to be first at something, I guess that is who we need the rules for. Ok Iam rambling now I will pick this up later and try to be more constructive with my posts.

If there is seriously people doing that, then the judges need to tell them turn it the feck up, its taking the pish.

No, to be honest, tell them to feck off, this sport doesnt need toss pieces like that.

But why most of peoples are against to even try any changes for "street" classes ?
What we can loose if we try something what show up later that it won't work and effect of that chance was opposite what we was expect???
I really don't understand what is that big force behind public what prevents that even small changes won't be approved to new rules [Frown]
Are we doomed to wait and see how things are going wrong way all the time...

My point exactly...Everybody seems to be annoyed by the scores achieved by street/street max classes competitors and to be more specific European competitors.

And if the street classes are excepted from Finals,do you actually believe that this would limit the building costs of dbdrag racing cars?
People always want to win whatever the cost...

Every year the same arguement..."Change the rules in street classes..."
Why not bann the 18V istallations in SS and EXTREME classes?

If you want to grow the sport that we love so much we have to give a reason for a newbie to compete. Ask yourself what it was that got you started. If we were to take a poll it would be different answers for most. But for me it was a divorce.. I competed because I needed something to do...
Back to the point.. I do shows in Florida.. Alot of shows. This year we are adding our own Saturday Night car show to our shows. Since I am the car show judge and I wrote the grading scale I've added a part that gives the car show competitor bonus points for placing in spl portion of the show. Even if they don't make bracket at least they get extra points. If I can get just one from the car show to try it then I have at least offered to them. Once they try it who knows they may actually like it. They may actually win and want to do it again.. If you want to grow the sport target the people that are already at the shows.. The ones with the nice cars. They already like to play the system get them inot the lanes and show them how fun it can be... Trust me.. They may not come to every show but they have interest in it for the next show..
Another thing I just start to get some interest back into the sport. We have a what I call Bass Warz. This is where you can call anyone out to battle head to head. Only the crowd can decide the winner. This is bass contest not a highs contest. The car show crowd loves it. In order to do the Bass Warz you have to compete in the spl contest at the show. Granted the person may loose at bass race but he has another shot at Bass Warz..
If we as promotors offer something for the newbie(car show people) we can grow the sport by getting them try it.. Car shows is the key to growing the sport....

So you want to force people to spend money they don't have and move out of Street Class? How is that even a solution?

Street is expensive yes, but to force someone to move to class that requires you to have not only a competition vehicle, but a trailer and tow vehicle as well?

Got to be the worst idea I've ever heard!

Street Class is NOT for entry level competitors, the sooner everyone realizes that and moves on...the better!

i started in db drags because the shop that installed my first stereo was having one and i deecide to help out by getting them cds and such and i was asked to compete i gave it a shot and i had alot of fun... mainly once they brought in the bass race, it was just a small show with alot of guys from around my town who just liked there stereos. we all just do it for fun theres no worry about finals for us we're just competing against our friends. street classes should still be an entry style class where the cars should not be towed or trailered to the shows, everyone who competes in it should have to have legal plates and insurance on it. all wires with fuses on them no specific sizes just fuses that are safe to run if that was done i think it would eliminate afew diffferent cars

I'm not saying force them out, I am simply saying they don't get a finals. If there was no finals for street classes then there wouldn't be veterans trying to take first in the world in the classes. If they wanted to stay in a class and just point to thier stats page and say "Look I am the loudest in the World!" then they could stay and just not have a finals or trophy for it.

Everyone that says the current Street Classes are not entry level clases are 100% correct, hence the problem with the current classes and why we can't get new people interested.

So then again since nobody else has answered the question so far, How do we get new people to try a sport that is being geared toward the veterans winning all the time? Do we tell them to just kinda stumble along for the next couple of years till so and so retires then its your turn? NO we as a group have to decide where to put an end to the excessivness of what was supposed to be an entry level class.

Why not just not have finals? That way people who don’t have money cant go and complain "he beat me cuz he didn’t pay for anything” maybe he worked his a$$ off for a few years before he got free subs/amps... its always going to be a losing battle, the only question is how long to you fight and with what weapons....
