What does everyone think of a new rule that stats that all windows must not be cracked or broken at all shows or you get dq?
I think that would make things safer.
When windows break the glass could get in someones eye.

You are correct, it is dangerous. But, this sport is about being the loudest, being loud breaks windows, stuff happens. The crowd loves it, the competitors love it, why stop it? There shouldn't be spectators that close to a vehicle for it to happen, and competitors know the risks of standing where they do.

No, i dont see this as a vaild rule. Under this reasoning, at finals where bob drove all the way from maine, burped the van in his qualifying run, the meter didnt read and he broke his window he woulda been dq'ed. I dunno about you, but i probably wouldnt have been to happy about that happening.

They keep people at a distance for a reason!

If you notice, this year the cars were pointing away from the grandstands in indy. While this wasn't the best for watching the show it was very good for protecting the crowds. The only people in the front were the people in the lanes at the time.

i don't know what windshields you guys have seen blow, but i've never seen one launch glass 20 feet into a crowd of people.

I've been around 20+ windshields blowing and most either throw a few chips on the hood or just crack the glass and stay intact.

I'm sure that there is video of Alma Gate"s Bronco back window blowing out in the crowd, floating around on the net somewhere.
