This is not a problem as far as I'm concerned. no two sensors are placed EXACTLY in the same spot in ANY vehicle. I would say most ( if not all ) are placed within 1/2" from where it needs to be. Thats close enough.

A competitor brought up the inconsistency to us and we looked into it, then decided the measurement was the proper way of pinpointing the sensor dot.

I believe the judges were dilligent in going back and looking at the cars. Did you lose by .2 db? Cause if u did I can understand why u aren't happy. If u lost a place by more then .2 db whats the point to all this?

they've been used for years now, and there doesnt seem to have been a problem until now and only seems to have happened in san mateo.
Well the thing is that there WAS a problem, so why doesnt it get fixed once and for all? then no one can whine or complain.
there was NOT a problem with the procedure though. there does however seem to have been a problem with the placers.
this was not a problem anywhere but san mateo.
that should tell you something.
there isnt anything in general or in the rules that needs to be fixed. that's plainly obvious.

I always thought the jig measured up to where the dash met the windshield it does NOT go by the hightest part of the dash if that was the case my placement would be 20" off the bottom of the dash
You just hold the jig against the a pillar and flat on the dash where it meets the windshield
Not rocket science

Its 4 inches off the dash when the jig is horizontal and is touching the A pillar.
If there is no dash beneath this point, you use another mic jig to aquire a horizontal plane at the next conveient point, in a CRX, the lip at the front of the dash.

I've tested in my CRX with the mic. all over the passenger side of the windshield, even laying on the dash. My scores were all within .1 of each other, and most of them were exactly the same. So.... I don't see why it is an issue
