there was some noted inconsistancies with regards to the sensor placement at finals. i was wondering if we could generate a template/guideline for the crx, just as Tor did with the panda in europe.thank-you

the standard mic jig template works on all cars and trucks. Ask to make copy and cut it out of abs plastic.

The Panda was complicated as it has no dash to speak of.
A CRX has a regular dash and should be treated as any other car.

We had a problem with this at san mateo, because of the peice of the dash closest to the windsheild and how it is higher up.... we should have an official ruling from the outside of the windshield for this car because many people use it...
I know at a 2X show the mic has been placed lower in my CRX where it is .2db louder compared to where it was placed at San Mateo Finals....
Also CrazyJoker, some CRX's have aftermarket windsheilds without the factory moulding around it... I know mine is made of rubber and is quite a bit different from the factory one, I could post pictures of my winsheild if you want to, to make a generalized CRX mic placement

we arent able to tell where yours is placed looking at that picture because you do not have a tape measure in the pic, I will go out and take a picture of my windsheild with a tape and a picture of my aftermarket weatherstripping

WTF you measuring from the outside for anyway?
The mic is placed with relevance to the A pillar and the dash.
Measure inside.

The Panda measurements, from the outside, also use a standard jig.

OK the problem is how the mic jig is supposed to be at a perpendicular angle to the dash (90 degrees vertically). The thing is to have the mic jig vertical you can not have the bottom of it touching the highest point of the CRX dash. The problem in san mateo is that CRX's did not have their mics placed in the same spot consistently, we used the outside of the windsheild measurement to accurately place all of the mic dots.

I wasnt at the event but if they wernt placed in the right place, surely thats an error being made by the person mic`ìng up and not an error with the procedure.
And where does it say it needs to be at the highest point of the dash?
How come this has been fine for years and now there is a problem at one event?

Well where else is it supposed to be on the dash? The crx has that top peice of the dash that is about 3 inches higher then the rest, because of the angle of the windshield you cannot place the mic jig on the top of the dash with it being perpendicular to the dash. So the judge must hold it and "eye ball" a horizontal plane to the highest point of the dash. The eye balling seems to be an inconsistent way of using the jig and we should just have a set spot for the mic using measurements from the outside of the windshield. I know ana's was placed in a different spot then finals 06.

I dont know, but it would be nice to have all CRX's the exact same seeing as how they are so commonly used in street in north america. I know my car changes .2 moving the mic 1"

anything more than 1/4" as mentioned before is NOT a problem with the procedure, its a problem with the person placing the mic.
crx were not just used this year at finals.
they've been used for years now, and there doesnt seem to have been a problem until now and only seems to have happened in san mateo.
this BLARINGLY points at sloppy mic placement.
neither florida or indiana had any complaints, and to the best of my knowledge neither did 06, 05, or 04 finals in regards to mic placements in crx's
and in the 25 multipoint events i've compete in, i havent heard of anyone having a problem with mic placement being different (when properly placed with the mic jig)
I HAVE however, seen lots of mics placed wrong, and people ask for them to be fixed. always when the mic placer is being sloppy and/or not using the mic jig.

You were not there on Saturday morning. The judges agrred that there was some "adjustments" that had to be made. After they used the jig, they corrected every CRX and made it the exactly same in every CRX. But I wonder what was done in the other locations. This is one of the growing pains with the multiple locations. At San Mateo, I believe they made it fair for everyone. And 1/4 +/- is normal for human error. I think a level should be installed on the jig, with a place where the "Paint Pen" can attach to...then it would minimaize human error. And everyone would be the same at WFs.
