Ok... so the Panda thread got caught up with us talking about the CRX and the judges said that the thread was getting off topic.
So, I'm starting a new one. I have a team mate who has a rex and so far has kept the spare in (and obviously the tabs).
So, now it needs to be asked. Can these tabs be cut in order to fit amps in the wheel well?
I'm stealing Peters pictures pictures from the other thread to post as an example

Last year at finals the judges looked at mine and I asked and they said it was O.K. but that was last year.

it doesn't interfer with normal operation of the vehicle nor is it a safety issue. I am refering to only this case of the tabs in the spare tire well of a crx. Any other vehicle or any other tabs may not be.

Instead of making a new topic, I will add to this one....
Can the plastic storage tray be removed to fit an amp, obviously the metal would be covered with carpet or something so it wouldnt look to bad... I have seen a few guys do that with their CRX's and did not know if that is a "custom amp rack" or not? Might be worth trying out for me.

Steve... I don't get the interpretation here.
These tabs are used to hold the wheel/jack in place, correct? So by removing them it interferes with the normal operation of the vehicle. (you can no longer securely mount the spare or the jack)

Where does the spare tire and jack go in your panda?

To paraphrase you from another thread "this is about the CRX, not the Panda"
But, to answer the question; Mine are both under the hood, in the stock location, and all are present. (including the tire-iron which is completely useless!)
Ask anyone who has been to a show and seen me open my hood. It's all there!

See.. I'm more worried because it's not my car. It's my team mates (Amy Barr) ... and I don't want to tell her to cut something and have it come back and bite *me* in the ass later

It has always been allowed to be cut out, because it doesn't serve a purpose if you take out your spare tire, which has been deemed legal by db drag (taking out the tire).
As far as the plastic tray, if you remove it in order to construct a custom amp rack, that is fine.

I'd hate for the jack to come foward in a front end collision. That would feel real nice flying foward at 50 MPH in the back of the driver's seat.
Jordy, one more thing to add. Most if not all take off the cargo cover handle also. It's about 20" long or so, and is held down by about eight screws. Got to get those boxes all the way to the B-pillar mang.

Aaah yeah, I remember that piece. We've had a bit of a hard time with it being in the way. Good to know it can be removed. Thanks!!

Actually Peter, the package tray handle I spoke of allows the user to push the enclosures up closer to the mic increasing the score.
The cutting of metal parts, especially the rather large jack holder, I don't really agree with, but I was able to stack four Mojos and later two Z1's in my tire well because of it.

Think of it this way. If CRXs can remove those for a "custom" amp rack then Pandas can removes a couple small things for a "custom" amp rack also.
will the judges say the same thing at finals ??
