the problem with the user removable bit is that the panda has user removable rear seats? with no tools required!
But the rules state that the seats must be in place in the 2nd row. That was there because of the cargo vans from 2001. Astro vans, Caravans, and other vans here in the US have a "user removable" 2nd and 3rd row of seats, and then they slid their box up to the B-pillar. Think what the no wall van's look like in the US and that was what street was like then. The "cargo" area was about 4 feet wide X 8 feet long X 2 feet high.

Maybe we should allow that again, would be interesting for sure. Then finals would look like a soccer mom convention instead of a CRX owners meeting.

I personally think the CRX and certainly the Panda would pound on those Cargovans these days. Imagine Terry's Street B score on the old lab? 163+? [Cool]

Or LX Atomics score 165+? [Eek!]

I have to add my $.10 because the judges at world finals had a BIG problem with how I had my amp in my car last year and weren't going to allow it unless I proved I could lock all the latches on the seats in my volkswagon and it wasn't even a threat or a contender. They picked that P.O.S appart and didn't let anything slide on it and you're telling me a simular clip has been allowed to "slide" for 3 years in Europe.

This is the Biggest problem I have with a non-unified finals. The rules are the rules a seat must keep it's form and functionality. It's a seat, not an amp rack. I put ONE amp down there and you could still comfortably sit on the seat and all the locking points locked. I was almost D.Q'd over it and you're telling me it's no big deal over there? I doubt a seat with no padding and just amps under it is very comfortable, but I could be wrong.

P.S. I'm not affraid because my car is 100% legit and as for tampering with the spare tire well to fit amps, my amps are 30.25" long so I don't even have to worry about them fitting in the spare tire well.

This post is about folding seats in street class, not spare tire wells. The answer to the question, the seat must be clipped/latched complately to be legal. End of story.

It's always been that way.... it just has to be enforced!

You're forgetting something Justin, it gets lost in the interpretation from English to (insert language/excuse for cheating here)

that would be like an suv removing the latching mechanism normal operation is there but the seat does not lock.

I think vans should be allowed in street now anyway

But back on topic in our explorer i could put 8 HUGE amps if the rear seat didnt have to lock.

yes that will help with amp space, but ive had box's in my explorer that the more I pushed them up the louder they got, so if the seat didnt have to lock into place then could just scoot up the box and just have the seat come up but without latching so the box can be as far up as possible....but that is not how it works.

Is this car legal?

It looks like the mounting locations for the top of the seat are behind the amplifiers.

That's no problem the seat is hanging to the front and is not going straight down. He will not hit the amps.
