i will use a crx for example because everyone knows a crx.

can a competitor remove the spare tire cover, to mount his/her amps vertically? Picture, the amps sitting staight up and down 90 degrees to floor of the spare tire wheel. The competitor is removing the panel to install an "amp rack", is it cosmetic? Is it legal?

It is legal provided that you cover the bare metal in the spare tire well with carpet.

I know of a couple of competitors that used the spare well for mounting amps that extended out of the well and removed the "floor" area but covered the metal with carpet.

I would also get a judge to look at it after you do your custom install, as many things are hard to see with just words describing what you would like to do.

Make sure you get the 3X judge for western canada to check this before you compete with it.

Just take pictures from it and send it to some guys or judges , plenty of knownledgable people there who can give straight and good answer [Smile]
