Window tint, stickers, or other materials which could occlude the judge’s view may not be placed on the windshield within a 6 inch (15.24 cm) radius of the sensor placement location.
If the sensor is visible even though there is tint on my windshield and vehicle, can I still compete?
I have seen judges having to use spotlights on extreme vehicles because of not being able to see through the thick, dirty plexi. I've also seen them not pay attention to the meter at all and still not being able to really see the sensor on these vehicles.

SO does it help having the windows tinted as far as being at a summer show and it being cooler on the inside? I know last year at shows even with the doors open it was hotter then crap i my van. Just trying to cool it down a touch in there.

The rule is about the meter being visible, not window tint itself. I think that as long as it is visibile during the run, you shouldnt have a problem.

when Mike had my crx, at 2004 drag finals, the judges made him take the tint off his windshield. only allowing 6" to be left on the top like an eyebrow piece.

the tint on the car was 5% and covered all but about 6" of the windshield. As long as the sensor is visible you should be fine.
