Hardly a valid point, its only one more battery than the current rules allow. Anyway, its a daily car, as youve said so no floor cuts, no 16 volt, no concrete.
You are suggesting twice the amps and a third battery. Since when can't you use concrete in a SM car behind the B pillar?

So why didnt these guys run SM1-2?

I just cant see the point in SM "open", people running lots of gear, daily, will have more than 2 batts.

You would have to ask them. I don't know that answer, I was told by someone even today that they were louder with 4-15's or 2-18's then with 4-18's. Hopefully they will post their thoughts soon.
As for the batteries, I see a ton of big daily systems with only 2 batteries. Of coarse they are running also but, that issue gets shot down every year.

Reread the rules Rick [Wink]

SM 3-4, the equivalent of 4 18s, can already have 8 amps. All I suggested was an extra battery. Actually, scratch that, I never even suggested the extra battery [Wink]

And you mentioned locals and daily cars not running because they dont quite fit. So you want them to fit into these class.

You then suggested that my class ideas was more SS than SM.

I merely said that daily cars, dont have floor cuts, concrete and 16V. So hardly SS cars either.

Yes it would be noce for everyone to "fall" into a class, but it wont happen.

If you want to compete in dB Drag, unfortunately you need to build to the class to be competitive.

So basically, your asking for a class built around you?
Not in the least. I had a certified in SM 1-2 this year with 2-15's I also have tested with a single 18.....Lets see 1-18 or 2-15's,old rules or these rules, etheir way I would still be in the same class. There really wasn't much difference but the 18 looked cool as S#^T. I really wish people would read the rules or atleast the whole post before making unfounded responses such as yours.

How about;

SM A - 1 18, 2 15s, 3 12s. 2 amps, 1 batt.

SM B - 2 18s, 4 15s, 6 12s. 4 amps, 2 batts.

SM C - 4 18s, 6 15s, 9 12s. 8 amps 3 batts .

Sorry MY BAD, I took that as meaning you were suggesting 3 batteries in SM C
What did you mean when you said 3 batts?

we need fewer classes with more competitors in each class.

I would suggest....

Street 1-2 (like A is now but 12" max)
Street 3-4 (like B is now but 12" max)

SS 1-2 NW

SS 1-2
SS 3-4
SS 5+

Extreme 1-2
Extreme 3-4
Extreme 5+

What did you mean when you said 3 batts?

If you look back, you will see my suggestion.

Geoff wanted 4 18s, I added 4 18s, Dicky suggested 3 batts, I added 3 batts.

Now, who are you telling to read the whole post?

Mike, totally agree on the Street classes, A is as loud as B. Same goes for EX1 and EX2. But, there are lots of people in Street, so that wont change. EX didnt change last year and has more people this year, so probably wont change either. I cant agree with dropping Max, its busier here than SS.

Rick, there is absolutely no need for these class changes. Those local people that only fit in SS, so they run mini-street, probably just want to run mini-street. The only thing you have said in this post that I even remotely agree with is that cars need to be running in street and street max classes, AND be allowed an upgraded alt.

Sounds like another Van class for finals. I think we're going to van classes and CRX classes. Maybe we should have these for classes:

Street CRX A
Street CRX B
Street SUV C

Caravan NW 1-2
Astro NW 3-4

Astro SM 1-2
Astro SM 3-4

Astro SS 1-2
Truck SS 1-2
Astro SS 3+
Ford Econoline SS 5+

Extreme Wagon/SUV 1
Extreme Astro 3+

That's only 13 classes. Some people may complain about having to by a new vehicle, but in all reality the vehicle is one of the least expensive things in the cost of competition.

More smaller classes would be nice, however it is attained. I say this from a retailer's standpoint. The more classes that are available to put your customers in the better. Not to an excess however, your average consumer cannot do SS systems. This limits you to 5 classes, not counting mini street, to put your serious customers into. After 5 serious competitors you run out of classes. A couple more smaller classes would be great in my eyes.
