We have done alot of meassurements of Pandas and we have discussed this issue, and there seems to be some small diferences between Pandas. However, the judges has found a easy, fast and fair guideline to judge Street Pandas and SS NW Pandas. Remember, this is not a new rule, just a clarifications ONLY FOR PANDAS and cars that is the "same"...

I hope everyone understand this instruction, if not, post your questions in this topic.

 -

In this picture you can see a screw that is for the plastic "pice" that is holding the original hatch. This screw (the screw that is far back) is the point that we are going to use, use a string from that point (screw hole) and to the same point on the other side (other screw hole), then your box/ports (and equipment) can not be above this line.

If you have a Super Street NW car, you also need to use a second string from this point (easy way is to just attach the second string to the string that you already has in your panda)and then hold this string down to the lowest point were the window goes down in the front doors. (were the rear side mirrors are attached). The box can not be above this line, when you hold the string tight and straight.

This shall be a easy way to do it, you may claim that its a bit low, but we have found out that this is fair for all and easy to judge and not to mention how easy it is to build boxes for pandas by this instruction.

Most, if not all, Street pandas that were in Sinsheim is below this point. BUT, you may whant to check it out if you are not sure...

Good luck...

I hope we have found "the right" points and that they are fair for all competitors...

Some competitors may have to do some changes. But most competitors are okey (as far as we know)

If we are WAY OFF, specially with the NW guideline, let us know ASAP. We have meassured the panda empty because we did not what any interference with equipment... But I hope that we have done a good job with this issue. And most of you are happy with it.

I have 2 questions
why do you use the screw and not the top of the plastic plate or the hatch
because when you have the backseat in you should be able to build up to the hatch
or am I wrong about that

and another question about no-wall
what if you use a sedan (trunkcar)
can you build up to the trunk or not
it will be above the wall line in some cars like the old jetta or some volvo's

and what about other cars ??
every no-wall car I have seen is build to the windowline from front to the rear
and now it is not allowed in a panda ??
but it's still allowed in other cars ??

Panda with no weight, all equip needs to be below the red line, lower than the rear side windows by about an inch, I guess, at the back.

Why can't you cut out the floor in SSNW it IS in the SS class. That would create plenty of room for equiptment. With this ruling clarification you aren't able to use certain amps and batteries together because you can't get it all under the new window line. Make it interresting and let us cut the floor. If you can't let us do that then SSNW should be renamed because I can't understand why SS 1-2 and above can cut the whole car apart but SSNW can't [Roll Eyes] Please answer this question.

When they decided to remove floor cuts from NW, I fought for them to be kept.

Two years later, I almost agree with the rule.

If NW stays as a SS class, we need floor cuts, as per all the others.

If not, just rename it NW, ditch the SS part.

No floor cuts makes it harder for everyone, and not easy for the few that can do a full floor cut.

Well I would think it would stay 63.5 since he did it last year, but I think there would be a huge benefit to floor cuts. I think scores could get real interresting that way. It will take forever for a decision to be made to cut floors so I'm sure the builds will have to be done as per the rules currently.

Floor "levelling" would be my choice.

No dropping the floor 6 inches or so but making it level front to rear and not dropping below the original front floor level.

it wasnt 5 feet, it was barely tall enough to stack 2 18's, a 6' person cant even stand up inside the van...
