Car is a Pontiac GP (1997) with the stock alternator (105 amps). I'm running a PG ZX475ti and ZX400ti for amplification. the ZX400ti is running 2Ohm stereo to 4 subs.
I noticed the stock alternator wire takes a rather long route to get to the battery and the wire is around 10g until it reaches what I think is the starter. There is 2g wire from the starter to the battery.
Can I just run a 2g cable directly from the alternator 2 the battery and not use the 10g cable?
Thanks for your input.

from what i was told.. from your alt to the battery, do not run larger than a 4 ga. This is what Matt (IDtech) told me, unless this was for my specific application.(60 amp alt)

it is not a really long route so u do not need huge wire 10guage to 4 guage is fine for it because its gonna no more than 7 feet. just ground the alt with the same guage wire that all.
