Is it possible and safe to run a 16v alternator and batteries in a dB Drag car? Will Mmatts D200hc's operate safely at this voltage? Also, can I regulate the vehicles voltage down for the rest of the car's accessories and keep the output to the amps and batteries at 16v or will this cause problems?

What setup do others use to maximize voltage and amps?

Thanks

From what I have been told about the Mmatts and most class D's is to try and stick to right near 16 volts for reliablility. The way I handled a similar situation with a 16volt charging system, was using a solemoid. When charging at 16 volts we isolate the "vehicle" via the solenoid and increase the voltage. The car runs off the front battery alone while the system is charged at 16 volts for competition. After a run, the voltage is backed down and the front battery is brought back on line and the alternators now charge the entire system. Works pretty good for a full modded vehicle. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the suggestions John. And yes Dukk, I found the batteries at Jeg's and at Summit. They have lots of cool stuff dB Draggers could use.

By the way Dukk, I built that ported box with the angled slot port and yes, it did blow my mind! Vega Bass is awesome! Thanks for the advice.
