I need to make some custom dist. blocks and I need to know a few things. Can I use aluminum to make my block? Currently I have a brass one that is gold plated. I know solid copper would be the best but I want to keep the cost low. If I decide to use an alternative material should my only concern be the end resistance of the block?

Thanks in advance.

A block of almost any metal should be fine.

Back in the early '90s when gold stuff was MEGA bux PG and a few others also offered aluminum blocks to help keep costs down.

It should work fine...

Aluminum is a good conductor so you won't have any problems. I made a couple a while back, they looked like ass but worked just fine.
