I'm going to be running a sundown 3000d with a powermaster 200 amp alt. I am going to buy a new starting battery and an extra battery. What can I get by with?

I would recommend the XS Power 200A alt, or maybe even the 250A for added power for your 3kW amp. For batteries, I would go with the D3400 up from with 555 I-BAR kit if you have a GM, and at least a D925 in the back to supplement your amp!
