I have been currently running 4 sixteen volt Kinetiks in my set-up and it has done well for me. I have had a lot of people tell me that if I switched over to Power Master, that I would see a significant gain. I will have to look into getting some kind of step-down module or something to help my electrical system for the conversion to the Power Masters but right now I run my electrical off of the 12 volt post of the Kinetiks. What do you guys think?
IMO the best batts out there now for 12volts are the NSB for burps. but for bassrace type setups I belive that the powermasters are great for that.
there are several differant options to try as well I have seen some Kinteic 2400 with a 16 volt mod!! you could use somthing like that and still have a 16 and 12 volt side? there are also still a few companies that make 2 volt cells?

Steve, you are not gonna know for sure unless you try it yourself. This kind of comparison has been going on forever. Those running Kinetik will say stick with Kinetik. Those running Powermaster will say switch. It's like most everything else, you just gotta try it and see what happens. Just get a few from a team mate and try it to see if there is a gain?

I had the same questions and eventually went with two step downs from Power master to run the engine and interior power. It will do it easy. The main engine crank comes direct from the 16v battery up front(make sure this is isolated from the rest of the vehicle, sometimes a vehicle will have a 12+tap to the inside from the starter wire).
I set to charge at 18V and the step down sends a solid 14.7 to the factory components.
I did notice the step down sends cleaner and more stable power to the interior so theres absolutely no dimming and the gas mileage is a bit better with a strong spark.
This way I know each batteries cells are under similar loads for longer life and the 16v helps crank over the starter in the winter.

Well I got some good news. I just bought 4 step down modules, so I should be good to go for the electrical. This will enable me to try some more batteries with out relying on the Kinetiks for the 12 volt post. Jacob, I would love to do some direct testing of 4 Kinetiks vs. 4 Powermasters for the final word on which one of these will be the stronger battery. Too bad I couldn't do it before NSPL Finals, but I have a lot going on right now. The tests will still help me in the next few months for gaining some db's.

?????????
He's posted a picture of a diode... which is how the voltage step down module works. By passing current through a series of diodes and expelling the heat through a heat sink you can drop the voltage depending on the diode size and configuration. Nothing magical about it. Not sure what the purpose of the picture is to be honest???

2 of the 3 vehicles to do 180db in the US use or used kinetik when they did so (soon to be 3 out of 4) Kinetik was also used in the first 170 SS vehicle and has won tons within the super street class past and present.

I have just decided to keep my four Kinetiks and also buy 4 Powermasters to hopefully do my own test. Just waiting on some prices first. Should have my step-down modules by next weekend.
also you guys are talking extreme competitiors, they use a battery per 100 watts, and only drop like a volt.

Well, I have already done some testing with the Kinetik 16 volters as well as the Batcap 8400 16 volt battery. Now if I can get some XS power 16 volt batteries, I will feel like most of my testing will be done. Jacob with Sundown has been in talks with Scottie with Power Master so that we can get this test underway. (4) Kinetiks vs. (4) Power Masters vs. (1) Batcap 8400. Is this a fair comparison? Give me your imput on the matter. If anyone else has any another 16 volt battery brand, and has the availability for me or my team to do the testing, I would be glad to make it happen. All testing will be done in my 1995 GMC Jimmy. Right now with the 4 Kinetik 16 volt batteries, Two Sundown Nightshade stock 18's and Two Sundown 3500d's I am doing 156's+ on the Term-Lab sealed on the dash in a no-wall set-up.
