i have just gotten a bunch of 8v batts that have been siting around for a couple years. going to go threw and check all the acid levels in them. and then i am going to try and cycle them to get them back up and running.
looking for what kinda charger would be best on doing this at 8v because i would like to do them one at a time instead of 2 at a time at 16v

Charging two in series will be the same as charging one at a time. The 4 2V cells inside each 8V is connected in series, so all you are doing is putting 4 more 2V cells in that same series. Both batteries will see the same amperage, and take the exact same amount of time to charge whether connected or charged sepearately. So essentially, if you charge them as seperate 8V you are doubling your charge time for no reason. A good 16V charger with intelligent control is what I would reocommend. I would try and borrow an XS Power 1005 model charger and charge in the flooded setting at 15A until each series set reaches the float stage. At this point all 16V sets will have been charged to the exact same capacity... then I would parallel all the 16V sets together and give them one last charge as one bank before use. Should be good to go!

thanks for the info. my only thing about charging one at a time or 2 at a time is finding bad cells in the batts. because they have been sitting for a long time with no charge i dont know if they are all good or will come back

If you charge one series set at a time you can disconnect them after they are finished charging and see if they settle to the same voltage. If not, you may have a bad one.

the XS Power intellicharger seems to get the best reviews as both a charger and for bringing batteries back from the grave
