Hi all was just wondering if anyone as tried or knows if it is possible to modify an alternator to get a higher voltage ie 16v ???? by replacing/ fitting a different resistor value etc and would the amps also be increased due to voltage and amps being proportional? Your feed back would be great. Ta grant

Even if you could it would'nt be worth it the excessive heat produced by it would fry the alt any way, get a good brand alt built for that ie Ohio Generator, Powermaster XS Amperage just to name a few it will be cheaper in the long run.

Yes! IT's possible you can modify the alternator but i wouldn't do that because what happen if fail? I did buy another H/0 alternator for the audio. My H/0 went dead and i could get my car running to go out. I had to replace the stock. if you give more power to the amp it will perform better.

there are alts out there that can do up to 21 volts but your cars computer can't handle over 15.6 volts with out blowing it up. so u would have to do either 2 alts one for car to feed off of or a powermaster step down module. The Amp might put out more power with 16+ volts if its designed to handle it or not if its not u might end up blowing it up also bepends on what amp it is and if u mean amprage then yes it would go up also but its more then a resistor its got alot to do also with windings and stator. ok would i recommand a reg person doing this NO leave it to the guys that know what they are doing and do it right Xs Power(Powemaster) makes a killer alt that is also adjustable up to i think 21volts
