I'd call a local starter / alternator rebuild shop and see if they can build your stock alternator into a high output unit. My first job was rebuilding alternators and we modified more then a few back in the day. We could get kits to modify a stocker to put out just as much as those expensive aftermarket units for alot less $$$. Plus we warranty our units. Ever have a problem with it local repair is alot faster then mailing it in somewhere.

yea Ohio Generators put a small pully on mine a "V" belt and it burned the belts off so they sent me a bigger pully NO CHARGE. they stand behind their products and are good folks too.

Very few companies have the capabilty or availability to put hotter Rotors into the unit. Swapping just the stator, or switching from y-wound to delta wound is what most "alternator shops" and even specialty high output alternator places do, which results in low output at idle. (even with a small pulley) Try and get something with a dyno sheet that shows the full output curve, and make sure it has an upgraded rectifier. (not a stock re-used one)

Yeah, those guys are funny. The dual recitfier that they mount on the back of the CS 144 is the same unit that we use inside our CS's. What's more, it won't clear the engine when the alternator is actually installed on most vehicles. (hits the valve cover)
There is absolutely no point in running twin rectifiers, the Stator will burn down long before you will ever hurt one of those 70A diode rectifier assymblies. A high quality single rectifier will outlive the stator in almost every scenario.

I would go with Ohio Generator, or even Powermaster, before I would go with one of these flash in the pan internet companies. I take that back. I would go with Ohio Generator, or even Powermaster, or nothing.

There is no way I could make a nice tripple alt kit for $100, I can tell you that. Just the idler pullies and belt are more than $100. Plus you have spacers, matierial, harware, development time, and labor to make it. If you don't count your own time as cost, or take into consideration consumables (saw blades, lathe cutters, welding gas, grinding discs, etc...) then yes you might be able to make something for around $100.
