As topic states trying to get the optimal charge for the batteries I have:

- yellowtop optima grp 34 55ah
- shuriken 80, 80ah

Got both these batteries used from a pal who said they were "dead". Both batteries held a charge of 12.7 and 12.9 respectively (they have been floating @ those charges for 3 months now).

Purchased the charger 2 weeks ago and used it to charge each battery respectfully:

- 'snowflake' mode for 3 days then 8 hrs rest
- 'recondition' mode for 1 day.

The optima is floating @ 12.7 and the shuriken is hovering @ 13.9 (it was taken off the charger 1 hr ago..heard bubbling inside its case) and will measure it in about 8 hrs.

I guess what I'm asking is am I doing this correcly? I assume both batteries are decent because of the high 12v float voltages. Any insights are helpfull.

I dont know much about the c-tek chargers, but they seem to be pretty nice. Other than the fact that they are low amperage, you should be able to charge your batteries just fine. Unfortunately, if the plates are sulfated, you wont be able to do anything to save them. Apply a small load (25-50A) on the batts... if they hold voltage (above 12V) then they'll probably be OK. If they drop below 8V, then go ahead and recycle them.
