I just put on a 200amp powermaster with external reg. when the alt is on the idol serge's and when it's off it dont. the voltage will go from say 15-15.8-14.8-15.5 anyone else have a problem like this and what was the fix

You're idle is right at the verge of being too low. You will need to raise your idle so that when the alt self excites it does not lower the rpms to the point the alt shuts off... it will continue to cycle until your rpms are held constant.

You will need to raise your rpms either way. If this does not work, someting is wrong with the regulator, or the way it is installed.

well i found out it was the power source i had used! with it hooked strait to the batt it worked great.so now i am going to use a relay on it.
