I currently have the stinger 1700's and am thinking about switching to the powermasters 2700's and was wondering if it's a good choice I was hoping to get a lot of opinions on this im wanting the overall better battery its is going to be used a daily driver and competition's but its not going to be drained each time I burp it I do have a decent amount of power but I can benefit from more its just I dont have anymore room so i have too swap my batteries out for another battery of the same size so all input is wanted

DO NOT MAKE THAT CHANGE. I compared the two last year and there was a substantial difference from the two. Stinger was stronger and is one of the strongest batteries out there. The only way you will see a gain is stepping up to a bigger battery like stinger 2150 or something similar.

I'll disagree (of course) . I've had several tell me there's no differnece, and a few say the D2700 was stronger. I do beleive that in your test(s) that the 1700 performed better (I thought by only .2dB) However, that was a single instance, almost exactly a year ago now. Many things have changed with respect to manufacturing since... unfortunately for other companies, the changes will not benifit the dB Drag Racing competitor.
If you (Jeff) will be at SBN, I would be willing to bring one for comparison's sake. If the D2700 falls short again, I will take it as a loss, but you can expect me to be back next year with a new and improved model... I wonder how a D1700 would go over?

If Jeff is not going to be able to try the battery out, I will be more than willing to drop the 2700 in my Street A CRX and test it out compared to a brand spanking new 1700, I just got for SBN.

I seen a couple of in car tests too that shown more than a .2 db difference.

does anyone else have any advice O I dont compete in DB Drag I compete in meca and am allowed mutiple batteries so it is a little bit different type of setup than a DB Drag so Take that into consideration as well

Sorry to say this but I have make the test with my Street A setup and the results are the same.
Earthquake PHD3 Current draw: 350A 4 years old Odyssey 1700: 11.6 volts 150.8 db New Powermaster 2700: 10.8 volts 149.9 db
The 2 batteries float at 14.1 volts. The problem seems to be the internal resistance of the Powermaster.

In that case, why not go with an XS Power D3100 or NSB90, or Odyssey 2150?

Excellent info! I will test this on new stock ASAP! The math adds up almost exactly as I would expect in a street application.

Those of you with the Stinger batteries are just testing them for burps. They may be louder on a burp but I would bet that they don't hold nearly as much reserve as the Powermaster. The person asking the question about the D2700 didn't ask which battery would be loudest for burps in a street application he asked which battery would be better in a daily driver that will also be used to compete. Now that's the Powermaster. I haven't done the test myself but I know of the XS power batteries pretty much outlasting the majority of batteries out there for bassrace and daily listening. You can drop the voltage down for extremely long periods of time and still don't have to charge it to have it produce crazy amounts of power.

Sorry if I came off like I'm bashing PM cuz I'm not. I was just sharing my results. In all honesty with the amount of batteries he has he probably won't see a difference. My test was for spl with car off so different application. So I did jump the gun with my response. I think PM are very good batteries for the buck and I suggest them to people for daily drivers along with odyssey and North Star.
When it comes to comparing a battery based on a data sheet it's almost impossible due to there is no true standard for testing a battery that is enforced.
I'd love to come to SBN this year and hang but doesn't look so good. Manauta is a good person to help with your comparison since I know his 1700 battery is very new and years newer then the one I compared with. But if the result is the same that we had try the test again with the car on and see if the 2700 really needs to be assisted with an alternator to come to life.

I did not take your comments that way at all... I realize you are just trying to help out the competitors, and that is what the forum is for. Thank you for recommending Michael, I would love to re-visit this comparison!

Scottie exactly what size battery bolt on the 2700, because on the bus terminal on my Street A car the hole I have is 15/64 of an inch.
If I remember right, the problem you mentioned, to my recollection, was the hole on bus bar that was tested at the last SBN, was a little larger then the one that you mentioned should have been used. Please tell me what exact so I can make accommodations for a newer buss bar for my power wire.

I have not done direct tests with the car running but if your stingers are in good shape why spend the money there? More improvement on your build very well may give you a higher end result. I don't know about a .9 db difference but in the batteries but we tried in my buddies car a 1700 was the loudest battery at 650ci. His kinetik 2000 was .3 to .4 off and the d2700 was .4 off. With the engine running I would imagine the scores could tighten up. A better build would and could negate a .4 score pretty easy depending where you are at. We gained over 1 DB just by changing the box. Box build change was less expensive and yeilded a higher result than the battery swaps. He also gained either .1 or .2 db in swapping out wire. He is moving up classes though the added power and bigger woofers make it more competive but more than likely still get ubber pwnd by a real solid crx.

I want to say the bolt size is 6mm

I would think that my entire setup would benefit from the swap Current setup: 250 amp mechman alt,1 powermaster 3400d 2 stinger 1700's and 2 stinger 680's Im wanting to switch to all powermaster but it would consist of this: 1 3400d 2 2700d's and 3'680d's with the 250 amp mechman alt I just think that the overall setup would be better than what I have now being I would be going from 2 stinger 680 to 3 powermaster 680 and then from 2 stinger 1700's to 2 powermaster 2700's

Yes, this was very helpful info that helped me determine that even thought the D2700 has greater energy storage, even with the proper connection to the terminal the PC1700 can keep a hihger voltage under load. For this reason we will be releasing a little surprise for the street A guys this fall.

Hey Scottie do you think you can try to make them in time for MECA world finals this year which is like the first week in october I think because that way I can upgrade my batteries all at once and have the new ones to run at finals as well because I really need the extra juice very badly by the way it Ive decidied to go with 1 D680, 1 D1200 and 2 of the new batteries your talking about and then Im running the D3400 upfront with a mechman 250 amp alternator I will put some pics up after finals and once I get everything done
