alright, I have an Irragi 200amps alt and an interstate battery. It seem that the alt isn't charging the battery at idle.

Engine off:
12.68v

Engine on:
12.34v @ 750rpms
13.01v @ 1000 rpms
14.43v @ 1500+ rpms

any ideas?

With my alternator, inorder for it to crank on, I have to put a load on it, like turn on my lights. Then the alternator voltage increases and stay at 14.4 until battery if fully charged. Then it shuts down. but with your RPM's high the voltage goes to 14.4. It may be working correctly!!! You should check your alterntors amp output at idle.

in a crx, the alternator does not kick in without a load. when you step on the gas you create load with your spark plugs.

You know for a while, I thought it was just me and my CRX.

But yeah, when ever I start my car, I have to blink the headlights, or my car would not charge at all on idle.

oh forget to add, the headlights are dimming everytime when come to idle at stoplight and then the headlights goes brighter when hit above 1,300rpms. It is very annoying when I am driving in the town. It is doing that ever since I put an Iraggi alt on. for maybe 3 years now.

That's why it is only 12.3v at idling.

from what I understand some people run a single wire alt there is also a company called missinglink audio that builds a modual that might be able to help www.missinglinkaudio.com Ive got one in my cavalier that has that problem too and it seems like it keeps the alt on when it warms up so it dosent kick off at idle and essensialy run off my battery bank

Missinglink dont make a module for honda cars. They are suggesting that I add a second alternator. I don't have time to do that. so I will have to figure out what to do with it. I'll ask around in hondas forum.

Seems like the alt. turns too slowly at idle. Is it a Honda alt. or a modded GM CS130 or CS144?

Search the archives here. If I remember well on the honda alt plug there is a white/yellow that if clipped causes the alt to run @ 14.v . A few others have added a switch to turn it on/off. One person did a test (it didn't throw any codes but it did cause his mileage to drop slightly...but in a car which averages 35+ mpg..thats major)
