DO you think ...

1 Ohio Generator Alternator and
3 PowerMaster D3100 batteries ...

is enough to support 10kwatts???
I want to run 2 Hofonics XXV Goliaths (5kwatts each( if I can, other wise I'll probably do 2 XXV Thors (3kwatts each).

I'm running in Bass Race and SSNW 1-2

Thanks,

IMO you will need more batteries (The more batteries the better) and more alternator! A true 5K watt amplifier will draw about 100 amps dc current per 1000 watts rms. So if you have 1000 amps dc current draw you would need about 6 Good batteries and 2 strong alternators to maintain them. The goal is to keep you battery voltage as high as possible( 12 volt system = 13.5 about 14.4 volts dc) and to keep your batteries as close to 100% state of charge as possible! Remember it is easier to maintain a battery/batteries that are close to a full state of charge then to have to raise them from the dead!
Hope this helps. Good luck! [Big Grin]

I agree with Vernon... the more the better! However, our minimum recommnedation for 10kw would be 3 D3100's.

What kind of load are you going to be running the amps at?
Are you thinking of doing one under the hood and 2 at the amplifiers?

I agree with vernon and scottie, I would think at least 2 batteries per amplifier plus one or two under the hood.

I was planning on running them at 1 ohm, but now that I see that will be a problem, i think I might roll with either 2 brutus 2600's or 2 thors at 1 ohm.

Im running 2 Fi BTL 18's in a yukon for ssnw1-2

I gave myself 2 box/battery options ...

I went with option B (see below):I made my box so big that I can only fit 3, maybe 4 d3100's behind my box, longways. The area i have for batteries is 48"w x 8"l.

With option A: If I build another box a few inches shorter, making my area for batteries 48"w x 13"l, I can add 7 d3100s in a row the short way behind my box ...

Here are some pics of my boxes! Believe it or not there is 8" of space between the 2nd row seats and the box, thats where the batteries will go.

Wow!!! I was not aware that! Powermaster D3100 sounds like it's an awsome battery. My post was based on my Tahoe. I use 3 225 amp Ohio Generator alternators. The 3 alternertors are capable of producing 675 amps @ 13.5 vdc and 2000 rpm (Hot). Also 3 NSB G3100's & 1 900 cca walmart battery under the hood. The battery under the hood does very little because of it's distance from the others, lack of multiable power & ground runs! In my application 2 American Bass 500.1's draw about 1000 amps dc @ full tilt! 1000 amps dc current draw = 13.1 vdc for a burp! Also durning a 30 Bass Race run volatage never fall belo 13 volts dc! [Big Grin] I would like to see the voltage stay 13.5 or better but I may be asking to much of a 12 volt system.I Need more batteries. [Eek!] Once again this is just in my setup! Current draw will very between setups!

i SERIOUSLY hope that you are planning on doubling that baffle, or doing a whole bunch of threaded rods.
one from front to back in each box.
maybe one going across the truck, through both boxes....maybe even 2 that way.
and 3-4 going vertical in the box to hold that baffle and the sub in place. If you don't, i bet you'll lose 1-2dB

do some dowels as dbass sudgested or the bottom of that box will brake. just get some 3/4 dowel a spade bit and some tite bond then that box will be strong and still light...

build looks good!
