What else is in the system? What kind of wiring and alternator?

What did you do with the receipt? Blaming the store for you not keeping track of important paperwork is a bit rude.

US Amps draw tuns of juice man, I know I had one running of a yellow top. If you didn't have an alternator to go with that battery, you would probably have killed just about any battery.

I had a yellow top that was part of a system of 4 batteries and 4 MTX 1501Ds. I bought the battery in 2002 and used it for a year. Then I stored it out on my front porch for 4 years.
I bought my HHR in March of 2007 and found the yellow top lying around on my porch and decided to put it in. Well with no re-charging or anything it started the car perfectly and ran an XX goliath with no problem.
I am still using the battery to run the car but upgraded to Kinetiks for the system.

So they work good for me.

I had a yellow top in my daily driver, running 3000 watts with a 170 amp alternator, for 3 years. Just took it out today to give to my cuz. Check the voltage its still sitting at 12.8v. Optimas are very good batteries. If you dont have the right electrical set up for your system, any battery will die. Hell my friend killed a NSBg3100 with using his factory alternator.

The two G31's I have in my truck are 4+ years old and still function great. [Confused]

In fact, my batteries came out of one of scottie j's vans, so I know that they have seen tons of use. [Smile]

I didn't drive my truck for over a month during the winter time (well below freezing most of the time), and even with the alarm and LED bar drawing current, the batteries still sat at 12.6+. I can bassrace with the car off and still not dip below 12v.

Perhaps you guys are just overlooking something? Whats your electrical system consist of? A 2000X is a lot of amp for only one battery. Stock alt? What kind of wiring?

me either in fact they probably cost me a top 5 at 97 iasca finals LOL. some people love them some hate them. i do know a guy that has 4 corvettes all late 90's to early 2000's and he HATES optima with a passion and none of the cars even have systems in them. some odd reason they die over 3 months of no use in the winter with a maintainer(used for 1 week a month) and a recommended charger.

Mine cost me a world championship in 03.

My car has had the Irragi 200A alt and upgraded "big 3" since 03. I've also had 1/0 to the back since 01. At the in 03 I had 2 Linear Power 2.2s and 2 Linear Power 3.2s in the car- one stereo on midbasses and one bridged to the subs. Before that, it had US Amps- a TU4360, TU600, and 1000X. Before that it was JL Audio- 2 300/4s and a 500/1. Before that it had RF in it- a 400a4 and a 800a4.

I got mine warrantied/swapped out and sold them after 03.

I hear the G31s are a different animal than the smaller ones. I dunno, I was afraid of them after going through so many of them.

I Have one thats three years old now and I had a short one day that dropped the battery to 6.2v, left it like that for more than one month, charged it and it holds the voltage at 12.4v, good enough for me.

In my opinion, the redtops last. The yellowtops don't. The g31 yellows are strong. My redtop has been being abused since 1999, and it still sits at almost 13V.

i know people who used them and it worked for them. and as far as my setup it was in a 92 lumina car with stock alt. and a duralast gold batt. with same audio setup and that thing lasted (had for about a year and half) until i sold the car. so I will never run optima. i don't think its my fault wiring was good, alt. is stock but i don't crank it much and never play in stop in go driving. no heated seats, power windows but there up or there down i am not 5 i don't play with the windows. didn't use ac the batt. didn't last long enough. so maybe i got 1 bad apple but thats all it takes to turn me off.
