When is a capacitor actually useful? I've heard that if your voltage is dropping below 12.7 during play that the caps are useless. So is it fair to say that if w/ alt batteries etc you are dropping to 12.7 - 13 volts causing dimming and that little bit of powerloss, would some high capacitance be helpful?

I'd use a batcap before a regular capacitor...unless its for competition

I would suggest a battery... something small and in the same price range as a cap, like a D680 or an HC600. Caps have a very tiny amount of storage capacity compared to a battery...
