My first job ever was rebuilding starters and alternators for a small shop in a little hick town back in the 80's. It was nothing too build high output units. We built them all the time for a fraction of the price of the same amp units at the local parts stores. In fact, we sold alot of high output units to a few of the local parts stores and performance shops. So before you go dropping a fair bit of change out of your hard earned money, I'd like too recomened you go on line, or flip through your phone book for local shops that rebuild alternators, give them a call and see what kind of price they quote you on rebuilding your alternator to the higher amp unit you're looking at. They're easy too put together, your local shop might sell you the kit for real cheap.
