the thing that gets me is the 121000 model. AGM batt, 100ah rating, only $172 plus shipping, basically a g31 batt, yet it will fit in my explorer battery tray with no cutting what so ever. they even have the 121100 which is 110ah, $190 plus ship (about $30 to CA). but it wont fit in the battery tray without chopping it up.
reason i am asking is because its either these, or the deka intimidator g31's for $143 plus ship. the deka is cheaper and has 100ah, but it wont fit in my battery tray without cutting, and the only other option is the g34 deka, but thats cuts down to 55ah, and it leave SO much extra room in the battery tray, i feel like im wasting space (buddy has both the g31 and 34 deka's in his explorer. i have an explorer as well).
any idea on the quality of these batteries? guess they've been in business for 30+ years or so.

I'd go with the DEKA... the PS are fine for low amperage low dishcharges... not good for high current situations like burps. The DEKA will be a little better. There is a reason for the cheap price of these batts

i would be using these batteries for a daily system off of 3kw, with a 220A ho alt.
would they pass off for daily? i mean, if they really wont work, then i wont buy them. my main concern is just trying to get the biggest battery up front, without having to modify.
if only deka made a g65 battery
the g31 doesnt fit by just about an inch, and the g34 has 2 inches to spare. kinda wastefull IMO
edit: btw, the reason im looking at the powersonic at all is because i have a g65 standard lead acid battery, and i hear conflicting info on whether or no i can or cannot run it with an AGM battery in the back. so like i said, im basically trying to fit the largest, yet cheapest AGM batt up front, and a nice g31 deka in the back

I wouldnt use it... for what you are doing I would run to Sears and pick up a G65 Die Hard Platinum (AGM made by Odyssey). Then match it with some good AGM's in the back.

sweet. never even knew about those. im assuming they are new then?
how many g31's would you recommend? i would think the g65 in the front, and 2 g31 dekas would be ok? i might plan to upgrade in power a little bit down the road, not by too much (maybe another 1.5kw or so).
97cavy: good ****, thanks for that. i was told they would fit, but it was only by 1 person, so i didnt want to just take their word for it without getting some kind of confirmation from another person.
also how do the three batteries compare to each other as far as a daily driving scenario goes (they are different group sizes or course, but they seem to be somewhat comparable as far as specs go?
the diehard g65 is rated at: 930 cca 75 ah 135 rc
the deka g31 is rated at: 800 cca 100 ah 190 rc
and
the optima g31 yellow top is rated at 900 cca 75 ah 155 rc

if you can fit the group 31 yellowtop or bluetop in there then do that. Those are really nice batteries, I had one in my neon on its side and it did great. Its still kicking after a few years my dad put it in his tractor lol

for a daily application that has a decent alternator (i got a 220A), where the battery isnt going to be drained down to nil (like in a car off scenerio), what is the most important aspect of a battery? ive heard reserve is more important, but then again ive heard amp hours is more important.

Of the three choices you gave I would go with the Optima's... If you're only powering 3kw I'd go with the D3100 up front (on it's side) and call it done. If you wanted you could add an additional in the back... or just add a D680 next the amp...

can i ask you why you chose the optimas? is there a spec your looking at?
im assuming your just going by your experience with the product, as they are relatively similar in specs, and i know you have experience with both the dekas and the optimas.
unfortunatly the d3100 wont fit in the front tray. i will keep the option open, of cutting the tray, but as a last resort.

The D3100 is the same size as the other Group 31's mentioned...
As far as the reason for my choice... I once heard a comment from a wise man that said "There are battery companies, and then there are liars" To put it as plain as I can, I trust written specs from very few companies, and Optima happens to be one on that list that I trust
