I'm doing a custom dual alternator setup on my jeep, and i have a HO cs130 alternator (pretty sure its a 130). Since the cs130 obviously didnt come factory in my jeep, i need to hardwire it. the connector on the back has 4 pins. from left to right, they read PLIS, and below the I is the letter F.
I found a couple items from searching google, which tell me this:
S-connect this right to the "+" on the Alt. with a ring terminal F-Not needed L-Connect to 12V source with a 3-4Watt bulb in the circuit(see web page on CS130 repair) P-Not used
This one, along with a couple other pages i found suggested going from the S pin to the positive post on the alternator with a larger gauge wire. how large of a wire do i need to use? If it's only going less than 6 inches, i cant see anything over 16 gauge being necessary.
And then the L pin, it's saying i'm supposed to wire it to a switched positive wire with a resistor or bulb in line? So all i have to do for that is find a switched positive source, wire a bulb in to serve as a "dummy light" as they're referring to it as, and then wire it to the L pin?
I'm kind of answering my own questions, but I want to ensure that i have everything understood correctly before i give this thing power and accidentially toast it.
