i plan on getting a cap(1 farad) soon but, should I get another one just in case? will extra cap ensure no dim light? Two caps definetely help right? I would think extra cap could put more strain on the alt. Let me know what you think. I am mainly concerned about dimming light.
You need a 1 farad cap/500 watts?? Where does this formula come from??? hmm.. So, if my amp does 1200watts at 1 ohm, then I need about three caps?? What's the rule??

1 Farrad caps are 1000 watts not 500 As for the lights dimming. I had a 1 Farrad cap hooked up to my Mtx rt 2400x and my Pioneer Gmx 502(800 watts total), and the lights still dimmed slightly when i was idling.

I had 2 farads with 3 xs2500's at 1.3 ohms.. mega current draw, yellow top optima up front, at idle I could turn my headlights off with certain notes... (BAD for the car)
but during normal driving there was no dimming what so ever.. to to a certain point caps are great, but once you excede that they're useless, which is why caps don't usually work for SPL..

Two 1.0 farad caps sound good to you? or just one 2.0 farad cap?

Possible setup:
1200Wx1 for subs
65Wx4 for speakers

Yeah, for the price of those 2 caps, you can get one of the 15 Farad Alumapro or PG (licensed from Alumapro) caps, and those are 15 Farads. I think there's too many individual cases where I've heard of that cap doing a great job for Richard to be right. Someone on here said the power stored in that cap could actually keep his system running for 3 seconds. It depends on if you're going for a APL system. The cap will hurt your SPL if that's what you want. However, for daily driving, one of the 15 farad caps will solve all your electrical system problems, unless you listen to it very loud and have an amazingly small stock alt.
