I'm looking at going to a 14 volt bank(or 14.?) for next season and what to make sure I do this right...and SAFE

I was going to use say 1 8 volt and say 1 6 volt(just to make this simple)
I have also heard of a 12 volt and a 2 volt(but not sure I like that way....heard it takes a LOT of 2 volt's)

Is the key factor in makeing a 14 volt bank work keeping the RC@AH rateing the same(or close)......I was pretty sure the CCA didn't matter, what's right ????

So let's say I'm going to use (1) 6 volt battery with a RC of 540(AH) and lets say (2) 8 volt batterys with a RC of 230(AH).....how would that work.....or wouldn't it.

I have never done this before and unsure how to proceed. If some of the battery guy's would give me there 2 cents that would be great.

If every thing I thought I knew is wrong please let me know......

if you put a good 12 volt battery, which is really a good 14 volt battery when charged.

Therefore if you put a good 12 volt battery and 2 volt cells, you end up with 16 volts

last i heard (2005) they dont make them anymore.

a 8 volt and a 6 volt will work, but when they are fully charged they will rest around 15.7-9

I bought 4 of them last year right before finals. As a matter of fact, I still have the modified 2400s sitting at home, all that is needed is 3-regular 2400s per modded one.

yea, but you're special [Smile]

Not sure if they are available anymore either, but like trex said... fully charged they will rest in the high 15's... is this what you are looking for?

If you're gonna do the 8 and 6 thing, just make sure they are of the same type (flooded/gel/agm) Then just try to match the capacity of the banks as closely as possible. RC is measured in minutes not Ah... RC is the number of minutes a battery can maintain 25A before dropping below a given voltage per cell... basically just another way to measure capacity. So matching either the RC min. or the Ah capacity will fine... you just dont want to have one bank be much larger than the other.

Matching manufacturers would be a plus too so that you have a similar internal resistence.
