I've been reading around and have seen some posts that say caps hurt your SPL? Is this true??

Yes, the problem here is that caps don't hold very much power, and Big SPL Systems use lots and lots of power. When you're playing a big SPL System for your number, You're drawing so much poer that the cap is drained in the first few nano-seconds. Then, empty, the cap tries to pull a charge to "fill-up," which it just can't do becasue of the tremendous amount of power being drawn by the amps. So, now the Alt is trying desperatly to recharge your cap(s) AND play your music. So you see, Becasue of the inefficiency of the real world there is power lost in the cap, that could have been used by your amps...less power, less SPL. I may be blowing smoke out of my ass here, but this is my understanding, and I think it's a pretty good one.
