Im having some problems w/ my setup. First this is what i have hooked up:
4x 12" JL Audio 12w6v2
1 RF T30001BD the amp has a 300A fuse in it
Knukonceptz 1/0g w/ 300A fuse
260A Alternator
"Big 3" with 1/0g and 300A fuse
2x 1 farad digital cap w/ 1/0g
Optima Red Top 75/35 under the hood
I also have a Yellow top but its not hooked up yet (i was told that i would not need it)

1) I took it to my local car audio place. and they told me that the threads on the negative battery terminal are screwed up. and this wire is part of the big 3 (negative battery post to chassis), and it could not be tighten cuz of the treads. i mean its on there and moves a lil bit. Could this also mean that there is a lil voltage drop because its not tighten?

2) They also told me that the threads on the alternator (where you screw the positive wire onto the back of the alternator) , are also screwed up! I know this could be a big problem, but just want to make sure if it is?

3) They also told me that i would need a second battery. But when i talked to a couple of people on car audio forums, and they told me that i dont need a second battery. also where can i buy a battery isolator if i do need the second battery Do you think i would need one.?

4) When i drove home i cranked up the music to 20-23 volume and the volt meter stays at 13.8-13.9, but anything past 25-26 volume my amp turns off and the volt meter drops to the second line (i think its 12.5) between 9 volts and 14 volts and goes back to 13.9 between bass hits, i looked at my caps and they read 12.6 each. When i have the volume low the caps read 14. someting Is there anythhing i can do with this problem?

Any Replies are greatly appreciated!
Thank you guys,
Sergio

well, with loose connections you run the risk of causing more serious problems other than your amp shutting off.

second battery is up to you, some people in db drag run 4 amps off 1 battery usually a g31 yellow top and lots of wire.

Looks like you have a good set up!
