I had the luxury of having my alternator die today. I was just wondering what kind of alternator would you suggest for a 2 amp system? Thanks

well...I would guess just a regular stock Alt would do you just fine, but the key to deciding is the power that is drawn by the amps in question. so, what are they?

It really all depends on how much current the amps are pulling.

Mine died this evening. A small service will be held at Advance Auto. I was actually glad to see it go...I got tired of smelling it.

Not knowing any specifics...

I would suggest getting an alt with the highest rated current output at idle engine speed that you can afford.

In Utopia, you should get an amp that outputs 1000 amps at 1000 rpm's while maintaining a temperature no higher than 75 degrees F. and costing no more than 20 dollars.

On Earth, a HO alt puts out anywhere between 100 to 300 amps (more I'm sure) around idle..and costs about 300 bucks and up!!!!!
