I was thinking of getting a stinger 1700 or 1200 battery, putting it in the trunk & keeping the stock battery under the hood. I would use a 200amp regulator, like this one: L.A. iso/reg . I am kinda tight with money constraints, so would this be OK. My amps consist currently of Eclipse 34230 (MAX current of 100amps) running a component set & possibly an Eclipse DA7232 (MAX current 200amps). So would the extra battery help?? This is for a daily driver. Also, how often would the amps actually draw the max current?

the extra battery will deffently help, even if you have good power under the hood its just better to have the extra battery right in the trunk within feet of the amps. also the isolator is a good idea, i have an extra battery and run 2 with out an isolator, and have no problems. its just so one battery doesnt bring down the other when the car is off. for a daily driver that should be good enough, your ears will say turn it down before you dran the battery down. and even with a stock alternator mine seems to recharge both batteries just fine.

How do you hook up 2 bats without an isolator? Series or parallel?

parallel. more current same voltage.
series would put you at like 25 volts. Most of your electronics would probably loose their smoke and not work anyomre [Smile]
