doing an install with a friend and we've come to a dead end...

-his alt is upgraded and it runs the car at 14.06 volts most of the time
-battery under the hood is a cheaper one, but its only two months old. He cant get a good battery under the hood because of space limitations.
-he wants to compete a bit in the summer so he will be adding 2-4 batts in the trunk
-im helping him with all the wiring etc but...
-do his auxillary batts need to be deep cycles or can they just be any batts? also can they be marine batteries?
-he will NOT have an isolator inbetween the batts

thanks for your time

Since you are saying that he doesn't have space, I would go with this battery set up:

A Sp800 under the hood (it will fit)
and 2 sp1700's in the back. You might actually get away with only 1 sp1700 in the back.

My amp draws 400 amps basically and I run the sp800 and sp1700 and my headlights do not dim, voltage stays above 13.5, and all is good (I also have the big three and upgraded alt.)

Hey drosen, this is off topic but I'm curious, what amp do you run? I always laugh when I see your sig, and now I see you say it draws 400amps. I'm just curious, most be one hell of an amp. Thanks.

Oh yeah on topic I agree with what was said above.
