If you take 2 6v 850amp batteries and wire them together would that work as one 12v 1700amp battery?

If you wire them in series, you will have 12 volts and 850 amps. If you wire them in parallel, you will have 6 volts and 1700 amps.
I have seen one time that when you put batteries in series, the current and voltage added. They were 185lb 2.0 volt cells (AGM batteries for a UPS system for a collisium)
Each 2 volt battery would do 200 amps of current by itself. When I put two in series, it did 400 amps at 4 volts. When I did 3 in series, it did 600 amps at 6 volts. By the time I did 6 of them in series, it was doing 1800 amps, which calculates to 3600 CCA. Too bad that setup weighed 1110 lbs.
I even called the manufacturer to ask them about it and they said that was impossible.
