I have a 2002 dodge neon. I cannot replace the alt. and upgrading the big three is a bit odd and a problem with the neon cuase it has a few other wires spliced into them from the factory. If anyone has been able to upgrade them let me know how you did it.

But the question is. Would putting one or two batteries in the trunk work just as well. I will be running an Mtx8100D and overtime will add another amp or two but just want to make sure that I am covered right from the start.

you can do it for now. but you should upgrade the wires so you can draw more current. most factory alt. wire is only 10ga at best. you want atleast 4ga. also same for grounds. higher output alt. usually bolt right back into place where your factory one was.

Just curious here, why can't you upgrade the alt?

warrenty. can't replace alt casue of it. I was gonna just go and replace it and then if ever needed work on it put hte orig back on, but can't even find a good replacement one. my dad helped me get the car so he wants it to stay as stock and under warrenty as posible. a lil bit of a pain but a good trade off for a new car.

fair warning. dont put anything in it. no stereo, no alarm no remote start. anything at all.

i have seen alot of dealers blame the aftermarket stuff just to keep from fixing stuff under warranty that wasnt even remotely caused by the aftermarket stuff. so if you want to add aftermarket stuff..... you will have to deal with all that BS anyways. might as well replace the alt. if done right they will not know. same as rewiring it.

Have you actually checked with the dealer to see if they will still honor your warrinty. I asked mine and they said it didn't matter what I did. If I could prove that what I modified didn't mess up what ever is broken they didn't care. I have a friend with a 2002 Neon and his dealer doesn't care either. I'd say check with the dealer before you do anything.
