Hi everybody, today i turned my car on for the first time in two weeks (just got back from vacation) and when i started the car everything was fine then all of a sudden the tachometer needle goes flyin up to 2000 rpm then back down to 1000 then back up and it continues to do this i tried driving around the parking lot and the car would periodically jump like someone was pressing the gas. i dont know what is wrong the car was working perfectly fine before i left...could it be that since i did not start in a long time that somethin got messed up? thanks

sounds weird.... im gonna say its not alternator related.. more like TPS related (throttle position sensor, at least in the ford world that is what it is called)... have a mechanic check it out

could be a bad iac motor (idle air control)

or even your voltage could be bouncing around a little causing faulty sensor readings to the cpu

also you may have a mis fire and when it surges thats when the injector or plug starts firing

just a few good luck [Wink]
