well, right now im running 2 MTX 425watt(60A) sub amps, and a MTX 300watt(40A) 4 channel. Right now the electrical system is stock, with an added 1 farad cap. My lights dim a little when at peak volumes, but nothing dramatic. Im looking to draw about another 40 amps, and will need a new alternator!!!

200A alt from ebay - I saw this one on ebay, is it the same factory size for a quick replacement? Is this price ok? should i be buying somewhere else?
also, for a 97 ford expedition...is it a 130AMP alternator?

ANY HELP IS APPRICIATED! thanks [Smile]

Just put one on the navigator last week and it looked identical to the one in the picture. IT went on without any modification simple bolt on. Your factory is most likely a 130 like you said. Price is good its about 30 bucks cheaper than the one i got [Mad]

awesome, boosted my confidence on that auction by 100x, thanks.

but, for upgrading the wires under the hood, i was planning on doing like 2 or 1/0 gauge...
would this help (upgrade over the reccomended 4ga)?

would 4ga be enough, and im just wasting my money/time?

bidding on the auction right now! cant wait to get it in...please post any information even semi-useful!
THANKS!!!

130 is on the 5.4l 115 might be on the 4.6l. But of the 4 expeditions and 1 navigator I have checked into they all have been 130 but also all have been 5.4l
As for the wire issue I just put 4 gauge on mine but honestly if I had access to 1/0 at the time I would have put it on and will later Im sure. So if you have to buy either one and dont just have some laying around I would go with the 1/0. IT cant hurt anything so why not.

Navidriver, did you install the alternator yourself? Is your Navi the 32v or 16v? What electronics are you running?

Nah my buddy did it for 20 bucks. Lucky me i got the 16v pos engine. He said the install was simple though just had to disconnect the k&n intake to get to it and it was like 3 bolts, everything was right on the top took him a whole 15 minutes. Should have paid him by the hour [Mad]
